A normal Schengen visa decision is generally taken within 15 calendar days, but examination can be extended—sometimes up to 45 days. Appointment waiting time comes before processing time and may be significant.

EU, EEA OR SWISS NATIONAL

Bring a valid travel document.

Conference visitors covered by EU free-movement rules generally do not need a visa for Hungary. Travel with a valid passport or national identity card and check any specific requirements connected with your route.

Insurance, clearly explained .

Visa medical insurance and broader travel protection are related, but they are not always the same product.

VISA APPLICANTS

Schengen travel medical insurance.

For a short-stay Schengen visa, applicants generally need valid travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen territory and the intended stay.

MINIMUM COVERAGE €30,000
  • Emergency medical care
  • Emergency hospital treatment
  • Medical repatriation
  • Repatriation in the event of death

The policy certificate should meet the responsible authority’s exact wording and territorial requirements. Check whether extra days or multiple entries need additional coverage.

EHIC?

For eligible European travellers, the European Health Insurance Card helps with necessary state healthcare during a temporary stay. It does not replace travel insurance and does not normally cover private care or repatriation.

Does an invitation letter guarantee a visa?

No. An invitation letter supports the stated purpose of travel, but the competent authority alone decides the application.

Can the Organizer contact the embassy to secure approval?

The Organizer may confirm genuine conference information when appropriate, but cannot influence, accelerate or guarantee a consular decision.

Should I buy non-refundable travel before approval?

Follow the consulate’s evidence requirements carefully. Consider flexible or refundable arrangements and review cancellation conditions before paying.

Does insurance guarantee entry?

No. Insurance may satisfy one requirement, but a visa and border entry depend on all applicable conditions. Border authorities may ask for supporting documents.

What if my visa is refused or delayed?

Follow the refusal or appeal instructions from the authority. Conference cancellation and refund rules are separate; consult the participant portal and Organizer promptly.
